The Touch of Abundance

Image
-Artwork by Shenjudongmandabanban- It was as if the world itself were wrapped in song, Sihan embraced by the reverberations he helped give rise to. He and many others filled the space of hallowed temple walls with choir—the space returning their song back in earnest echo. White walls and black tiled roofs riddled the large expanse of the metal temple, with traditional wood carvings of his group's deity, Yaoshi, adorning every other row pillars within. The structure was a testament to an ancient devotion. It all made Sihan feel so small, but a part of something greater. That greater purpose had called out to him years ago upon being welcomed into the Disciples of Sanctus Medicus after the death of his parents. He had always felt as if he were sleepwalking through life, drenched in the bureaucracy of his job at Xianzhou Luofu's research division. The floating world within a ship he existed on was a tiresome routine of overbearing structures and constricting order. All he cared ...

For the Love of Yao

Artwork - Yuzuyu010     This story was in collaboration with Cretax “So, I assume you are here for the interview for bodyguard of Ms. Yao?” A well dressed man in a suit addressed the rather shabbily dressed individual who had entered the stale white board room. The suited man looked exhausted, burned out from a day of conducting far too many interviews. His latest applicant simply nodded to his question, yet he was not convinced. “Are you sure you have any experience in the field? Ms. Yao is quite the handful and is a valuable asset to the company as one of the most popular performers in the city. We can't just hire anyone you see.” The one benign interviewed, Chet, began to rattle his own nerves trying to think of something to say. The only reason he had taken a chance on this job was for a chance to meet Astra Yao, the famous musician of New Eridu City. For a city so constantly at threat from apocalyptic outside forces as well as ones from within, stars like her who in...

An Unquenchable Thirst

Artwork by Kinkymation Metro City, home for many, but the furthest from homely of any major city, one could say. A lifetime spent in economic and infrastructural decay had given it renown as a crime capital, with most streets ruled by gangs. It is also a city ruled by combat, fighting, and other illegal underground bloodsports found all across the city. All of that though began to change once a man named Haggar was elected to office. His administration took fast to rebuilding the slums and cleaning up crime. Because of this, construction was up across the city. But not all entities involved in the city’s rebuild were filled with good intentions. A particular crime syndicate by the name of S.I.N. was in the process of installing one of their weapons development divisions on the outskirts of one of the still struggling neighborhoods—even hiring many of the locals desperate for money to work on the site. Brett was one of those locals. Brett was everything you could hope for in a har...

Blooming Into You

Image
Artwork by Mirufui / Based off a roleplay with Terse  I walked within a field of sunflowers, admiring them as I often did. The giant field a few miles outside of town was one I often visited, sort of a sanctuary for me. Here, I felt removed from the hustle and bustle of my weekly grind, basking in the flower's fragrances and at times falling asleep on the soft soil beneath their swaying blankets of shade. Today I decided to wander deep into the massive field, further than I ever had before. Then, I saw her. A mysterious, green haired woman with a parasol walked up to me. She wore a plaid skirt and a waistcoat of similar color and pattern over a plain white shirt. A red eye peering from under the bangs of her wavy, shoulder length green hair gave me a puzzled, slightly worried look. Once upon me, she said nothing. “Ah, um... good day, miss. Didn't expect to see anyone else around here.” I hadn’t expected someone else to be this far out and admittedly was feeling awkward from ...
